चितवनको सौराहास्थित कुमरोज सामुदायिक बनमा मंगलबार बिहानै भेटिएको पाटे बाघ । यि तस्बिर वाइल्डलाइफ फोटोग्राफर मिलन तामाङले खिचेका हुन् । नेपालमा बाघको सङ्ख्या ३५५ पुगेको छ । बाघको सङ्ख्या दोब्बर बनाउने नेपाल पहिलो देश बनेको हो। नेपालले सन् २०१० मा रसियाको सेन्टपिटर्सबर्गमा भएको बाघ सम्बन्धी अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सम्मेलनमा सन् २०२२ सम्ममा २५० वटा बाघ पुर्याउने लक्ष्य राखेको थियो।
नयाँ तथ्याङ्क अनुसार, नेपालको चितवन राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जमा १२८, बर्दिया राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जमा १२५, पर्सा राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जमा ४१, शुक्लाफाँटा राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जमा ३६ र बाँके राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जमा २५ वटा बाघ छन्।
यसअघि नेपालमा सन् २०१८ मा गरिएको गणनामा २३५ वटा पाटे बाघ भएको तथ्याङ्क सार्वजनिक गरिएको थियो। जस अनुसार, चितवन राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जमा ९३, बर्दिया राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जमा ८७, बाँके राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जमा २१, पर्सा राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जमा १८ र शुक्लाफाँटा राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्ज एवं मध्यवर्ती र आसपासका वन क्षेत्रमा १६ बाघ भेटिएका थिए।
नेपालमा बाघको सङ्ख्या बढेसँगै यिनको व्यवस्थापन, मानव-वन्यजन्तु द्वन्द्व न्यूनीकरण, वासस्थान सुधार लगायत अन्य विविध विषय चुनौती बनेका छन्।
